The Family Selection Committee reviews candidates by:
- Need -- Substandard or over-crowded conditions
- Income too low to obtain conventional loan
- Ability to pay the mortgage
- Willingness to work as partners on housing projects -- 400 hours of "sweat equity"
- Applicant must have lived in Stanly County for one year.
- Neither race nor religion is considered when Habitat selects potential homeowners.
